I found a few flowers of Syzygium cumini (aka jamblon, here) on our tree, a bit unusual at this season.
I hope to complete the page at the end of the year, when we can relish the black purple fruits that taint our tongues in blue 🖤💙💜

J’ai trouvé quelques rares fleurs isolées de Syzygium cumini (jamblon)sur notre arbre.
J’espère compléter cette page à la fin de l’année, quand il sera temps de savourer les petits fruits noirs à la chair violette qui teinteront les langues en bleu !

I found this beauty in my vet’s courtyard yesterday afternoon, it waned quickly though.
Uther is recovering well 😻

The flocks of endemic Zosterops borbonicus are also waiting, they love to play hide and seek in the flowering bushes !

The flowers of Ylang-ylang, even dried, are still so fragrant in my studio !
This is a generous tree, which flowers nearly all year long here

Pelargonium graveolens is one of the few rose-scen

Pelargonium graveolens is one of the few rose-scented pelargoniums, sometimes improperly called rose-scented geranium or géranium rosat.
🩷
The fragrant essential oil is mainly contained in special hairs on both sides of the leaves, so that the scent is released whenever you touch them.
It is used in perfume and food industries, and it also has medicinal properties.

While submitting my theme “Smells & Flavours”

While submitting my theme “Smells & Flavours” for my Diploma in Botanical Illustration #rbge , I intended to highlight the elements that produced the fragrance for each of my 5 plants.
🌱
For this bush of #vetiver, the main relevant part is the maze of roots, which exudes a fresh, woody and earthy smell.
Hence I chose to give it full space at the bottom of my composition.
But the roots of Vétiver Bourbon are not only fragrant, they are also a wonderful way to fight erosion, they can also treat the soil from polluting elements, enable a good management of the underground water

(The leaves also have many other uses).
This 3rd painting was meant to have a central part in a (theoretical) display of 5 watercolours, because this simple grass is such a hero with hidden powers.
It is the star of the show.
